How much does it cost to build an MVP?

There is no single meaningful standard price for an MVP. Cost depends on what the first version must do, which systems it must connect to and what is required for safe use.

01

Five factors that affect scope

User roles, data complexity, external integrations, payments and administration requirements affect the work. A simple dashboard with one role is different from a marketplace with buyers, sellers and payouts. Describe one complete user journey first, then add the necessary supporting functions.

02

Ask for an estimate with explicit assumptions

A useful estimate separates discovery, design, engineering, testing and launch. It also states exclusions. Ask which integrations have been assessed, which access you must provide and how scope changes will be priced. Compare the same delivery brief when evaluating multiple quotes.

03

Separate setup from ongoing costs

Hosting, email, AI usage, payment services and support may create ongoing costs outside the build price. Agree who owns subscriptions and how usage is monitored. A first release needs a maintenance plan even when new features are deferred.

04

A practical starting point for a discussion

Bring the target audience, the problem, a sketch of the core journey and systems that need connecting. Explain what you need to learn from the first version too. INOVIX uses this to define the delivery; this guide is not a price quote.
