MVP development for digital products

Build the smallest version that solves a real problem and can be tested with users. INOVIX helps define scope, prototype and launch the first release.

01

What must the first version prove?

An MVP should test a key assumption: whether a particular user will use the solution for a particular task. Start with one audience and one core journey. Features unnecessary for that journey can wait, but basic security and correct data handling cannot simply be omitted.

02

Prototype or working product?

A clickable prototype can clarify navigation and comprehension without building the whole system. A working MVP is needed when testing real usage, data or integrations. The choice depends on what you need to learn, not what looks most extensive.

03

A bounded delivery brief

We describe the user journey, included features, exclusions and acceptance criteria. External services, subscriptions and operations are agreed separately. Once the first version has been tested, further work can be prioritised using evidence rather than assumptions.

A good place to start.

  • Which assumption will be tested?
  • Who will test the solution?
  • What can wait until later?
  • What does done mean?

Questions & answers

How much does an MVP cost?

Scope, data model, integrations and quality requirements determine the cost. A meaningful estimate needs a bounded user journey and clear acceptance criteria.

Is an MVP the same as a prototype?

No. A prototype can simulate use, while a working MVP lets users complete the core task.
