Product design and prototyping

Make the idea concrete before building. Define the user journey, explore the interface and try a clickable prototype before fixing the scope.

Documented design handover

01

From an ambition to a clear task

We start with the people using the solution and the task they need to complete. Then we describe the core journey, important decisions and information needed along the way. A focused design phase can stand alone or precede an MVP. The aim is better decisions, not the largest number of screens.

02

Try the solution before it is built

A clickable prototype shows how screens connect. It can test comprehension and navigation with intended users. We agree which questions to investigate and adjust the main obstacles. The prototype is not a production system and does not prove integrations or data processing work.

03

A foundation developers can use

The interface should cover the main journey and relevant error, empty and confirmation states. Document the design direction, components and priorities within the agreed scope. At handover, distinguish decisions from open questions. Discuss sign-in, roles and technical dependencies with engineering so the design does not promise unsupported behaviour.

A good place to start.

  • Who will use the product?
  • Which task matters most?
  • What should the prototype clarify?
  • Do design, content or code already exist?

Questions & answers

Can we commission design without development?

Yes, as a scoped engagement with an agreed handover. User journeys, screens, revisions and any testing are defined before work starts.

Is the prototype ready to launch?

No. A clickable prototype demonstrates interaction but needs engineering, testing and operations before becoming a working product.
